The Beginning

I have decided to start a blog. I expect to write about all sorts of things.

I moved to a new apartment that is not too far from my old place on May 1st, and I feel like this is a fresh new start. I have two male American roommates, who both happen to be vegans, so I decided to go along with them on the same diet.

This is a wonderful opportunity to fix my sweet-tooth. It would be great if I can learn to control my love for sugar (I have personally concluded that sugar is a legal drug. I have been successful in quitting caffeine so far, and I don’t drink much nor smoke at all; but I still haven’t found the way to control my urge for sweets. I LOVE sweets!) This is finally my chance to tackle this problem.

I have begun reading The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. I had the Japanese translation when I was in college, but never got around to actually reading it. It had been always one of the books that I wished to read before my end.

Finally, as I have entered my 40s, I am relishing the pleasure of reading this book in the original English language. Tolkien's story is so well written. Although fictional, such great stories like his feel so real, and show that the epic stories can inspire the readers' imaginations.

Creativity is an essential element of being human. Each of us must be creative because we are all responsible for creating our own lives. I believe those with poor imagination lack visions into their own future, and tend to encounter more obstacles during their lives.

Imagination is the first step of realization. Tolkien's story is very metaphorical and I find much similarities with mythology. I believe that Tolkien may have been empowered by some mystical force to write this story.
